Black history month

Rejoice it’s Black history month…!

As a special post for Black history month I will be posting and discussing a new black figure each day.

Today’s figure is Shirley Anita St. Hill Chisholm

Shirley Chisholm was born in Brooklyn, New York in November 1924.

Chisholm was the first black woman in Congress in 1968 and the first woman and african American to seek presidential nomination in 1972.

Her autobiography reveals outspoken truths about women in congress

The title of her book is also known to be her motto unbossed and unbought

She faced much scrutiny and racism during her campaign. However throughout all the adversity she still managed to attain 10% of the total delegate votes.

She is a model of excellence that surpassed expectations and broke barriers in her field. May we recognize her greatness on this day.

Stay black,

Stay strong

Stay unapologetic
