10 ideas to remind yourself everyday

I’ve felt the depression, I’ve been through the anxiety. Pressure kills me every day. I’ve experienced it all. This system of capitalism is designed to drain you before it can pay you. Some of us never get to get paid. I’ve seen people feel like progress just isn’t in their process.

This post is to tell you otherwise.

Understand that progress is slow, and that everyone moves at their own pace. And that even though it isn’t happening now it will eventually occur. I was inspired by a woman yesterday’s A black woman. Her story was extraordinary. She had begun cooking without any true backing or experience and turned it into two businesses that she owns over the course of 5-6 years. She had struggled with doubt. Pressure, and people’s own disbelief for a long time. At a time she was homeless, almost lost everything. However, she persevered. And now she’s getting ready to open her second restaurant in a month and a half.

How does this story relate? Because her journey is one that reveals the ebbs and flows of everyone’s journey. Because she is someone we can relate to in some way form or fashion. I almost dropped tears because the story was so profound, honest, and believable. For someone to come where I come from, disadvantage, poverty, social and economic struggle and to make it like that I was amazed and honored to be in the same room with her. Like Nipsey Hussle, said you’ll go through every emotion. You’ll feel worthless like you can’t make it. However, you can. That’s why I’m writing this post here, to remind you of that. Here are 10 things I’m going to remind you every day to remember.

1. Breathe.

This is the most important one, which is why it’s first. Breathe. Inhale one time. Now exhale. Do it as you’re reading. Remind yourself you’re alive. We often forget that we’re even alive because we’re so far consumed with life. So inhale…

Breathing is essential. It can calm your storms. Don’t ever forget to breathe.

2. You are right where you need to be

Right now you are in your journey. You are in the process of achieving your dreams. It may not be what you want it to be. However, it is where you need to be. There is a lesson at this moment. An opportunity for growth. And the opportunity to see the world around you and apply it to yourself. Use it

3. Stop worrying about others.

Other people work at their pace. They have their own work ethic, their own journey. Stop comparing yourself to other’s journeys. We’re all individuals. We’re all working towards a goal or goals. No one’s path is the same. Why would you want to walk another’s path? Stop allowing social media to dictate where you should be or how far you need to go.

4. Do it

Do that thing you said you were going to do. Say hi to that person. Start that art you wanted to do. Do it!!! Just start. And see where it takes you. Nothing will start without your action. Put that dollar in your savings. Invest in that stock. Go to the gym. Read one book. Do it. Just do it.

5. Challenge yourself

Time to put those practices into motion. Healthy lifestyle? Put the cookies down. Try to drink water or meditate. Focus on something else. Work on your craft for a little longer than before. Do that last set one more time. Run that extra mile. Try not to eat after 10. Sing that note. Shoot 100 more hoops. Push your body past its limits. See how far you really can go. Challenges and adversity reveal our true selves. So push a lot harder and see a newer reflection.

6. Understand you are magnificent

You are more than capable of whatever you’re doing. Act like it. Believe it. Even if you don’t think you deserve this have confidence. Understand that you are meant for this. So believe that this is for you. Then execute.

7. It is okay to fail.

Failure is a part of life. The greatest success stories come from failure. You can’t win without it. Failure is natural, there is nothing wrong with it. I’ve failed a million times. I failed to make my basketball team 3 times. I’ve failed tests, I’ve failed to court women, I’ve failed at job interviews. Fail. And fail often. Most importantly, fail forward. It’s the only way you’ll improve.

8. Not everything is for you.

Just because it’s trending doesn’t mean you have to ride its wave. If you don’t like it put it down. Not everything is meant for you. So don’t force it or think that you have to experience it to get to your destination.

9. Show encouragement

Give everyone love. Even if you aren’t on good terms with them. Even if you oppose them. Encourage, embrace, and support others.

10. Believe in yourself

Believe in yourself or nobody will. Believe that you’ll get everything you asked for. Believe that you deserve that apartment or job or vacations. Believe in yourself and enjoy the fruits of that labor.

Here are 10 things I believe should be a reminder. Hopefully, you can take these values home and give them to each other. Keep touching lives
