Night vision
My weary gaze
Seems to have phased
Into a daze that
Penetrates
The pavement
I don’t know
If I’m
Pained by some external
Play that forces me
To betray the sky
Or if my body has
Finally claimed its
Place as controller of
My life
As the glow reflects
The light from above
My eyes widen
Trying to
Reconfigure
The new sights
I’m frightened
To rationalize what I see
I’m hoping that my eyes
Are deceiving me
And telling me that
What appears before my
Frightful gaze
Is nothing but a maze
A winding trick of illusions
Concocted by my
Mind
This night vision,
Oh how it beckons
My spirit to miss the sun
